LM C4: Book Blueprint

Type 3 (one step of a bigger process). Problem tag B: knowledge not packaged.
Shown on the scorecard result page as a next step.
Built to match Trevor's current template: "BAD ASS - Book In A Day - Book Planning Template (Updated)" This blueprint is a short front end to Parts 1 to 4 of that template, so a finished blueprint drops straight into it.
Draft by Cat: Trevor, Nov 2 2026.

The promise

Walk away with your title, your subtitle and your table of contents. Built from what you already teach.
Time: about 45 minutes. [TREVOR TO CONFIRM]

Why start here

Start with chapter one and it is easy to stall. The plan is the hard part. Once you have it, the writing gets easier.

Step 1. Your North Star (from Part 1 of the template)

Fill in this one sentence:
"I will use my book to target [primary audience], by teaching them [book idea], which will lead to my ultimate goal of more [objectives]."

Then answer 3 quick ones:

  1. Who is the one reader? ______
  2. What pain do they have because they haven't read your book? ______
  3. What will they get after they read it and use it? ______

Step 2. Your cocktail party pitch

One sentence your reader would use to tell a friend about your book.
"It's the book that shows __ how to ____."

Step 3. Your title

Name it after the reader's result, not your method.
Write 3 options:

  1. Circle the one that a buyer would understand in 2 seconds.

Step 4. Your subtitle

Formula: How to [result] without [the thing they hate].
Write 2 options:

Step 5. Brainstorm dump (Part 2 of the template)

List every idea, story and lesson you teach. Don't sort yet.

Ideas that don't fit this book go in the Parking Lot (Part 3). You might have a second book.

Step 6. Your table of contents (Part 4 of the template)

Section Working chapter title One-sentence key takeaway
Introduction
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 6
Chapter 7
Chapter 8
Chapter 9
Chapter 10

Tips:

What you have now

  1. A North Star sentence
  2. A pitch
  3. A title and subtitle
  4. A table of contents

The next problem (this is the bridge)

Now you need to write it and get it seen. In the full template, that's Part 5 (your chapters) and Part 6 (special instructions for your writing team).
