What they get: the 7 questions

Use the client's real result only. No made-up numbers. Get their OK before you share it.

  1. Who was the client? (type of person, not their name, unless they say yes)
  2. What was going wrong before they came to you?
  3. What had they already tried that didn't work?
  4. What was the one thing you changed?
  5. What happened after? (real numbers only, if you have them)
  6. What did they say about it? (their exact words, with their OK)
  7. Who else has this same problem?

The story template

[Client] was stuck with [problem]. They'd tried [what failed].
We changed one thing: [what you did].
Now [real result].
In their words: "[real quote, with OK]."
If you're a [who else], this is for you.

SAMPLE story (made up to show the format. Not a real client or result.)

A first-time author was stuck with a book idea she'd carried for years. She'd tried writing chapter one again and again.
We changed one thing: she built her table of contents first.
Now [her real result goes here].

In her words: "[her real quote goes here, with her OK]."
If you're an expert with a book in your head, this is for you.

How to fill in the "Now" line: use what your client got, in their words or numbers, and only if it's true. SAMPLE (made up, not a real result): "Now she has a finished table of contents and has started chapter one." Then check it with the client before you share it.
